While Captain Pain is busy flushing our hard drives of Inuyasha fanfics– I’ve decided to swoop in and share a little about what you folks can expect from us in the next coming months.
Good evening Painkillers, and welcome back to another addition of Anime Wednesday. Today I got something that I think is a bit cool. This is one of those few times that I get to cover an anime, that is literally ripped from a video game. I’m going to be really honest, I have never played any of these games before, so I had no idea what to expect as I watched this show. Now that I have, I enjoyed it, so I figured that I should share this with you. So then, let’s get right into it, here is Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright.
Phoenix Wright is a rookie defense lawyer that works under his mentor Mia Fey. Unfortunately, Mia is murdered early on in the series. Due to this, Phoenix befriends Mia’s younger sister Maya. She is a medium in training, that can channel dead spirits. Because if this, when Phoenix is in trouble with a case, Maya channels Mia’s spirit. This allows Maya to look exactly like Mia, and helps gives Phoenix some advice and inspiration to help him win the case.
The show is based on the few games in the series, and when I mean based, I mean that they almost completely follow them. (Yeah, I did my research!) So, if you are someone like me that never played the games, now you have, just by watching this show. The show is really funny, and entertaining. If real life court systems were like this, it may or may not be as clogged up as they currently are, since cases don’t go longer than three days. The other characters in the show, are really good in their own unique way. The show is only 24 espoides long, so it’s just right to watch the whole series over a weekend. I watched this on the Funamation app, and I’m sure that this is on Crunchyroll as well. Either way, find it, and enjoy. Until next time Painkillers.

Good morning Painkillers, and welcome to another addition of Grab A Buddy Monday. Today I’m going to do something a bit different. Yes, I am going to tell you about a game, but it’s going to be about an arcade game. Many of you might remember what an actual arcade was, and good for you. Unfortunately, many of you hear the word arcade, and think about a place like Chuck E Cheese, well Fuck You! That’s not a fucking arcade! I remember going to the arcade with friends or family trying to decide which game to play first, in this giant room filled with arcade game cabinets, and pinball machines. Well if there was four of us, then we definitely knew one of the games that we were going to play. Well, time to bust out your cash, get your quarters from the machine, and race over to whatever character’s joystick that you wanted to be, because it’s time to play The Simpsons arcade game.
Yes, back in 1991, America’s most famous yellow family had an arcade game. The cabinet was a bit larger than usual, since it had four joysticks, instead of the usual two. Each stick represented one of the four playable characters that you could play as. (Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa). So basically whatever slot, under a stick that put your quarter into, that is what character you would play as. Don’t worry, it was clearly marked so you could tell who you were going to be.
The plot of the game goes as follows. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie are out taking a stroll through town. Smithers and two goons just knock over a jewelry store. As they are running out, Smithers bumps into Homer, causing a precious diamond to go flying into the air, and landed in Maggie’s mouth. Instead of just pulling the diamond out of her mouth, Smithers just up and kidnapps her. So now it’s up to the rest of the family to go and rescue her.
This game is a lot of fun. It has eight stages, that takes you all over Springfield, and even Dreamland. There are also some bonus stages for more points. You get so see many of the characters from the show, many will come around to give you food for health, and even some weapons. Each character have special attacks that you can pull off, and there are even tag team moves that you can use as well. I know that most of you can only play this game now via emulators, or on an old Comandor 64, or maybe you are one of the lucky few that still have it from Xbox live, or PSN before it was removed. For the rest of us, hopefully you live near one of the last real arcades that are left, and that the game is there to play. Until next time Painkillers.
