The Battle Continues In The Afterlife

Good morning my loyal Painkillers, newbies to the site, and of course anime fans. Welcome to another edition of Anime Wednesday. Somehow I keep falling into these crazy ass themes with my anime articles. Two weeks ago it was demons trying to take over the Earth, and this week, its limbo,God, and Angels, well in a way. Here is Angel Beats!

The show starts in a Limbo/Purgatory setting. People that experienced trauma or hardships in life end up here, to overcome what they went through, before they can move on. Our protagonist is Yuzuru Otonashi, a boy that has no memory of his life. He enrolls into a high school(ugh, you die, and still have to go to school), and meets a girl name Yuri Nakamura. She convinces him to join the Afterlife Battlefront. Its an organization Yuri founded and leads, that rebels against an unseen God for their unfair circumstances in life. Their enemy is the student council president Kanade Tachibana, also known as Angel. She is believed to be God’s associate, and she has supernatural powers. You want to know who wins or loses, you have to watch the anine and see for yourself.

This show is very well made. Even though the focus is on the battle between Angel and the members of the Afterlife Battlefront, there is plenty that is going around at the school. Even if most of the the teachers and the other students are considered NPCs, and just like in a video game, they play their part well. Unfortunately, if you are not a big anime fan, this is on Crunchyroll, so you may not have a subscription. If you are a big anime fan, this is on Crunchyroll, so most likely you have a subscription so enjoy. Until next time everyone!
