Mobile Fighter Ready…. FIGHT!

Good morning Painkillers, and welcome to another addition of Anime Wednesday. Today I have a good one for you, and it’s another one of my favorites. Many of you may already know what that means, that’s right we are going Gundam once again. This series is much different than the other Gundam series that I have presented in the past. So let’s get into it, here is Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

In this series, it doesn’t take place in the regular Universal Century timeline, but rather a alternate Future Century timeline. In this timeline, most of the human population currently lives on space colonies, that are assigned to the countries on Earth. The Earth is currently in ruins, and there are not many people that live there. They don’t have wars to decide things. Instead, every four years they set up a Gundam Fighting Tournament. Each country sends a fighter down to Earth to have one on one fight against each other. So basically like a robot boxing or MMA matches. The winner of the tournament, their country rules for the next four years.

The show follows Neo Japan’s Gundam fighter, Domon Kasshu. He is preparing himself for the 13th Gundam Fights. Along with his childhood friend and machanic, Rain Mikamura, they travel the Earth challenging other Gundam fighters. They also have another mission. They are looking for Domon’s older brother Kyoji, who apparently stole an experimental Dark Gundam mobile suit from the Neo Japan government.

This 49 espoide series is one of the best Gundam series out there. The style of the Gundams are so different than the other Gundams, with the stand up cockpit system that actually reacts to the pilots movement. Domon’s interactions with Rain and the other Gundam fighters helps with the uniqueness of the show, especially how things end up near the end. I believe that this is currently on Hulu, so if you haven’t seen this show before, or want to watch it again, now is the time. Until next time Painkillers.
